The Protocols for the re-opening of golf courses initially for members only and on a restricted basis has been published by the GUI & ILGU. We are very lucky to be one of the first sports to be allowed play following the lockdown.

The course is in immaculate condition, thanks to Glen and his team, Brian O'Brien and Diarmaid Marsh and we are very grateful for this.

We are almost finished working through these protocols and the Club will issue procedures specific to Castlewarden GC on Wednesday 13th May via email. It is essential that all members check their emails in order to be aware of this very important information.

The timesheet will go live on Wednesday 13th May at 7.30. Tee times will be at 14 minute intervals and with 3 balls participating. Casual golf only will be played for the first couple of weeks. Members must book via the timesheet at all times.

In the interest of everyone’s health and well-being, it is vital that we all comply fully with the new procedures regarding booking of tee times, arrival at the course, social distancing etc.

Today is the 30th anniversary of the first day of play in the club and we should have been gathered to celebrate this great day. However the COVID-19 crisis has overtaken all the best laid plans and in the context of world events our disappointment is a small matter.

The management committee wish you all good health at this time and hope that today in your own way you can celebrate our clubs birthday. We continue to manage the course and administer the club through these strange times. So much effort had been required to adapt to the current situation not least of all the irony that so much effort is going into having no golf played whilst the course is in fantastic condition and the weather had never been so favourable. Strange times indeed.

We will be in good shape to return to normal business once we get the all clear to do so. We all look forward to meeting up and getting back to the trials and tribulations of our golf game. Please look after each other in the meantime and we will continue to update you as the situation evolves.

In line with the statement from the Taoiseach this evening and the clarification from the GUI/ILGU immediately afterwards we have to close the course and practice range to all members with immediate effect.

This is if course regrettable but in the  current situation which we now find ourselves we have no alternative.
We hope all our members and their families stay safe and well during this difficult time.
