Now that the Covid 19 restrictions have been eased in County Kildare we would like to welcome all members back to playing.  It has been a busy week since we reopened.  We had the Vice Presidents Prize at the weekend and next weekend we have the qualifier for Captain Vincent Hendrick's prize.   There are lots of major competitions coming up so keep an eye on your emails for notifications.

We would also like to welcome our new Assistant Pro Caolan Smith.  Caolan will be be assisting Brian in the Pro Shop.  We would ask all members to welcome Caolan and allow him time to adjust to his new role.

May we also remind all members to remember to keep your social distance and adhere to all HSE guidelines while playing or entering the clubhouse.

Stay safe and enjoy your golf.
Thank you to all our members who live outside of Kildare for your continued adherence to the Government guidelines.  It is much appreciated.  We hope we will be back to normal playing shortly.  In your absence the course is being maintained to its usual high standard.  In the meantime, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Due to the particular warning by our acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn for people in Kildare, Laois and Offaly we are asking members to be extra careful.
Please enjoy your golf but remember your social distancing, hand hygiene, cough/sneeze etiquette.
Please stay at home if you are experiencing any Covid 19 symptoms.
Take care, stay safe and look after each other.
On June 29th this year, we held our first  competitive game since re-opening.  It was a four person scramble and all proceeds were in aid of Jack and Jill Foundation.  Our dream team with a combined handicap of 5 played four rounds that day.

We are very happy to confirm that the final total raised has now reached €7,089.50.  Thank you to those who played on the day and also those who sponsored and contributed on the website.  This amount will go a long way towards paying for many hours of nursing care for some very ill and needy children. Your support is very much appreciated.  A big thank you to the Dream Team who came up with this idea.  It was a great achievement for them and Castlewarden GC.  The cheque will be presented to Jack and Jill in due course.
It's a busy weekend this week in Castlewarden.

Good luck to all the men who qualified to play in President Bob Campbell's final day this Saturday.  Due to Covid 19 there will not be the usual prize presentation afterwards.  It is hoped to have a prizegiving in the near future, depending on Covid 19 regulations.

Sunday 26th July is Lady Captain Deirdre Sheehy's final day for full members.  Best of luck to all the ladies taking part.  We were very lucky with the weather on Day 1 and hopefully we will have a repeat this weekend.  There will be a prize presentation on the patio weather permitting and ladies are invited to attend.  If the weather does not permit this to take place, the presentation will take place indoors, to prize winners only.

Best of luck to all men and ladies playing in these to very important golfing days.
Lady Captain Deirdre's Day will be held on Tuesday 21st July for all lady members.  Day 2 for full members will be held on Sunday 26th July.  This major competition will be followed by a Garden Party commencing at 5.30 p.m. Please make sure you have your name down, sheets are in the Ladies Locker Room.  We hope everyone enjoys their game and we wish Lady Captain Deirdre and all the ladies the very best of luck in this major event.  Hopefully the weather will be kind to us for the golf and the Garden Party.  Stay Safe!
Best of luck to all members playing in President Bob Campbells Prize this weekend. The competition can be played either Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  Presidents Prize to Five Day members will be  held on Friday 24th July.  Our course is in splendid condition at present and we hope you enjoy your game.  Thank you to President Bob for our first major competition since we re-opened.  Hopefully the weather will be kind on all days. Stay Safe.

A major fund raising event will take place in Castlewarden on June 29th.  All proceeds will go towards the Jack and Jill Foundation.  Four of our younger members, two male and two female, known as the Castlewarden Dream Team will play 72 holes in one day.  It’s a big task but the Dream Team, with a combined handicap of 5 are up for it.

These young players have come up with this idea themselves and all funds raised will go to Jack and Jill.  We hope to raise €2,500.  Every €16 made will give a family one hour of much needed nursing respite care.

The team will tee it up at 6.00 a.m. and start their last round at approx. 6.00 p.m. on the day.

While that is going on we are having a four person Invitational Champagne Scramble.  Cost of entry is €10 for members and €20 for guests and visitors.  It is the first competition after the closure and we hope it will be an enjoyable day.  There will also be Nearest the Pin on Hole 13 and 17.  All prizes are sponsored by Noel Herterich.

You can also sponsor the team using this link www.idonate.ie/72holeChallenge

Why not come along on 29th June, enjoy the game on our fabulous course, see the dream team in action, bring a friend and have a great day out while doing something worthwhile for Jack and Jill.

Timesheet opens at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday 18th June.

Welcome back to all members, we hope  you are all keeping well.  Its great to see members back out on the fairways enjoying their golf.  The course is in excellent condition thanks to Glen and his team, Brian O’Brien and Diarmaid Marsh.

We would like to particularly welcome our new members who have joined in the past number of weeks.  It is great to see new faces and we know they will be made very welcome by all members.  We are planning a get together for all new members when circumstances allow for such things.

While the bar and restaurant remain closed, Karl is serving his fine fare on the tenth every day, weather permitting.  Please support Karl and we look forward to our catering facilities re-opening in due course.

The Pro Shop is well stocked, so please shop local if you need anything golf related.  Brian, as ever, is only too willing to help with selection of clubs, items of clothing etc.

It is also great to see our office up and running again, a big welcome back to Colette and Philippa and thank you to them both for keeping us in order!

It is unfortunate that we must wait until after June 29th to commence competition but safety is paramount and this will also give members time to get back in the swing of things.

Our invitational week was scheduled to commence this weekend but this has been postponed until July 4th.  In the meantime, you are of course welcome to bring your friends for a game of casual golf.

Please adhere to the safety procedures in place at the moment.  These procedures are put in place to keep everyone safe and well.

On behalf of the President and Management Committee we would like to wish every member the best of luck in the coming season.  Stay safe and mind eachother.

As the course is now on the verge of re-opening, our club pro Brian O'Brien has put together a Restart Offer containing a Microgrip (Cobra) golf glove, a bag of tees and some small refreshments for only €15.

Drop Brian a message if you'd like to arrange the pickup prior to your tee-off.

The Protocols for the re-opening of golf courses initially for members only and on a restricted basis has been published by the GUI & ILGU. We are very lucky to be one of the first sports to be allowed play following the lockdown.

https://www.golfnet.ie/news/golfnet/4661/unions-publish-protocol-for-golfs-safe-return

The course is in immaculate condition, thanks to Glen and his team, Brian O'Brien and Diarmaid Marsh and we are very grateful for this.

We are almost finished working through these protocols and the Club will issue procedures specific to Castlewarden GC on Wednesday 13th May via email. It is essential that all members check their emails in order to be aware of this very important information.

The timesheet will go live on Wednesday 13th May at 7.30. Tee times will be at 14 minute intervals and with 3 balls participating. Casual golf only will be played for the first couple of weeks. Members must book via the timesheet at all times.

In the interest of everyone’s health and well-being, it is vital that we all comply fully with the new procedures regarding booking of tee times, arrival at the course, social distancing etc.
