Women’s Carton Cup

A fantastic result for our Women’s Carton Cup team who beat Westmanstown 3-2 in the second leg of matches to win on an overall score of 6-4. Castlewarden’s points came from Gillian Shanley, Mary Brien and in a sudden-death playoff, Patricia Hinch sank a long range putt to secure the winning point on the first hole. A dramatic ending to a great afternoon! Special mention for Ann Marie Pryal and Patricia Gallery who narrowly lost out in their matches. Well done to managers Breda Sheedy and Dorothy Kinirons. Thanks to the caddies and to the supporters who cheered our women to victory. Onwards to round 2 now.

Men’s Round-up

A mixed weekend for the men. A great win on Saturday for the Pierce Purcell team followed sadly by two losses on Sunday.

Pierce Purcell

The Pierce Purcell team played a great match against Moyvalley with Michael Merriman & Ian Bolger, and Gavin Condon & Derek Waller both winning close matches at home. Then when Tom Sexton & Andy Corrigan went 3 up with 3 to play away from home to guarantee a half point, victory was secured. Next up for Joe Donohoe & Peter Sinnott’s men are Millicent.

Junior Cup

Our Junior Cup team took on a very strong side from Cill Dara and despite some great golf we lost both matches away and the middle of the three matches at home. Jack Lally made his debut for the Club in what we hope will be the first of many.

Leinster Trophy

The renamed and expanded Metropolitan Cup now the Leinster Trophy team were drawn against the Heath in the first round. Again despite some close battles and with some of our lads wining when they were called in The Heath unfortunately were the first to win the 4 matches required. Another notable debut was Harry Quinn who represented the Club today having just celebrated his 15th birthday. A great prospect for the club for many years to come.

Well done to all players, managers and supporters.
