Overall, a very tight encounter with all games home & away going to 17 th / 18 th . With almost calm conditions and a near perfect evening for golf Castlewarden was in super condition thanks to Glen & his team.

Game 1 at home. Gavin Condon & Peter Sinnott.

Very even pairs and never more than a hole between them all evening. A/S through 9 with eventually LS winning the 17 th with a very good sliding downhill putt to go 1 up. Our lads unfortunately couldn’t win 18 th so LS win this game 1up.

Game 2 at home. John Larkin & Paul McDonnell.

Not as tight an encounter as game 1 with LS always keeping ahead ----2 up after 9. John & Paul got match back to 1 down after 16 th but LS pair closed match out winning the 17 th and match 2 & 1.

Game 3 at home. Brendan McCann & Liam Cregan.

Our lads were in control more or less all through going 3 up after 9. Determined play by LS got them back to 1 down after 17 th showing as usual the fine margins in winning / losing. However solid play by CW on 18 th gave us a win in this game.

Game 1 away. Brian Roe & Gerry Galvin.

After a steady start by both teams the Lisheen team used their local knowledge of the greens and course to roar into a lead of 3 up after 1 0 holes. But the fighting spirit of the Castlewarden team took over and they fought back to level the match after 17 holes. Unfortunately they lost the 18 th to a par.

Game 2 away. John Sheedy & Terry Creely.

Our lads were once again 3 down at the turn . They got it back to 1 down after 15 but Lisheen chipped in from the side of the hill to birdie 16 to go dormie 2 after we all thought this game could go level going up 17. So, a bit shocked and stunned they went on to the next hole which was conceded.

Overall, a team defeat in a very close encounter but we will fight another day.

Once again well done lads. A big thank you for representing Castlewarden and we the committee will hope to see you next year or even on some of the other teams this year.

For all other teams that go out to represent the club in the next few weeks a message:

It just goes to show you that even at 3 down you can still get back in the game and give yourselves a chance to get that win which, as everybody knows, is not an easy thing to do.

Best of luck to all Castlewarden teams in the upcoming matches over the next few weeks.

John Beirne & Tony Macari.
